This Refund Policy explains the circumstances under which Users may receive a refund for a purchased vehicle information report (“Report”). By completing a purchase on the Website, you acknowledge and agree to this Policy.
As the Reports constitute digital content supplied immediately upon payment, the EU 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply once the Report has been delivered, in accordance with the EU Consumer Rights Directive.
CheckVIN issues refunds automatically whenever one of the conditions below is met. No user action is required.
A refund will be automatically granted when:
The Report was not delivered to the User’s email address after a successful payment, and our system confirms that delivery failed (e.g., hard bounce, technical delivery error).
A critical system error prevented the Report from being generated (e.g., provider outage, internal processing failure).
The Report contains no service history entries, meaning the third-party provider returned an empty dataset for service events.
CheckVIN automatically validates the VIN before attempting to generate a Report. If the VIN provided by the User is invalid, mistyped, or does not meet standard VIN format requirements, the system will automatically cancel the request and issue a full refund, as the Report cannot be generated.
In this case, the User will automatically receive a refund for that specific VIN.
Refunds will not be issued in the following situations:
If the Report contains some data but not all records expected by the User, or if certain fields are missing, incomplete, approximate, or delayed.
Automotive data availability varies by region, time period, and workshop reporting behavior.
Once the Report has been delivered and accessed, no refund is available unless one of the automatic refund conditions (Section 2) applies.
No refund will be issued if the User expected the Report to contain manufacturer-level data, official BMW/MINI records, or any information not stated on the Website.
Refunds are issued automatically through Stripe, to the same payment method used for the original transaction.
Depending on the User’s bank, refunds generally appear within:
3–10 business days for card payments;
instant to 48 hours for some digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Revolut Pay).
If the User purchases Reports for two VINs within the same transaction, each VIN is evaluated independently under the refund conditions in Section 2.
If only one of the VINs qualifies for a refund (e.g., invalid VIN, system error, or empty service history), CheckVIN will refund 50% of the total order value.
If both VINs qualify for a refund, CheckVIN will refund 100% of the total order value.
If none of the VINs qualify for a refund, no refund will be issued.
A valid Report delivered for one VIN remains non-refundable even when the other VIN is refunded.
CheckVIN reserves the right to deny refunds in cases of:
5.1 Suspected misuse,
5.2 Fraud attempts,
5.3 Repeated refund claims for different VINs by the same User,
5.4 Abuse of automatic refund conditions.
If you believe your situation falls outside the automatic refund conditions and still warrants review, you may contact us at:
Email: order@checkvin.eu
Your request will be reviewed individually in accordance with EU consumer protection laws.
